TULLE EASTER CENTERPIECE

Materials:
Hot Potatoes rubber stamp: Carrot Q106
Marvy Markers in Orange and Light Green
yard of White velvet
yard of tulle-orange was used for this project
Steam-A-Seam2 double-stick iron-on fusible web
Protective paper from the Steam-A-Seam2 fusible web
Manicure scissors
Scissors
Iron (no steam)
Misting bottle with tap water

Instructions:
1. Use a piece of newspaper to create a pattern. Lay the paper on your table and cut a circle or an oval in the size that you want. Cut the pattern out of the tulle.

2. Use the orange Marvy Marker*and color the main part of the carrot. Use the green Marvy Marker and color the carrot top.

3. Emboss the white velvet with the carrot image. Be sure to use the Steam-A-Seam as you emboss. This is critical. To do this process, you will lay the colored stamp with the image side up on your work surface. Place the white velvet right side down on top of the stamp. Now, place the Steam-A-Seam on top of the velvet. Be sure that you have removed one layer of paper from Steam-A-Seam and keep it for use later. It is also very important that one sheet of paper with Steam-A-Seam is left on top of all layers to keep any material from melting to the iron.

4. With the iron set on cotton carefully place the iron on the entire stack where your stamp is and hold for about 10-15 seconds. Lift and turn over to examine your velvet that should have a lovely embossed image of a carrot!

5. Continue until you have enough carrots for your entire centerpiece. You will need to reapply the color to the carrot stamp before each stamp impression.

6. It is very important that you DO NOT mist the velvet when you are using Marvy Markers to color the stamps. These markers are very moist and take the place of the misting step. Misting the velvet will make the image run.

7. Cut out all the images and peel off the paper backing.

8. Lay the images face down on a protected work surface. Lay the tulle on top of the images and arrange to the pattern you want.

9. Trim the tulle closely along the bottom of each image to finish off your liner.

10. Lay the saved piece of paper over a small area and iron for about 5 seconds to permanently attach the embossed velvet to the tulle.

11. Your centerpiece is ready for an Easter feast!*

*Marvy Markers are available online and in most craft stores. These are the only markers that I know of that are moist enough for this process.

*This centerpiece will run if it gets wet! But it will hold up to dry cleaning. Go figure!

One set of Mary Pop-Ins
Hot Potatoes Rubber Stamps: Open Daisy L423; Small Dots J420
Orange, yellow and bright pink ink pads (Ranger Sun Brights Popsicle Orange, Beach Ball Yellow and Bikini Pink are used on these boxes)

These boxes come scored and ready to decorate and assemble with all the instructions. All you have to do is print out this picture and recreate or come up with designs of your own!

To achieve the solid areas, the ink pad was used like a paint brush and swiped across the paper. Then the same color can be stamped on top for "color on color". The smallest box has a daisy cut out and glued to the side of each box.
