1/2 yard heavy cotton or linen fabric
1/2 yard fabric for lining
2 yards of piping
1-3/4 yards of cording for handles
Jacquard fabric paint
Hot Potatoes Rubber Stamps: F433 Atomic Explosion, P442 Boomerang, P441 Outline Boomerang, J439 Doodle

Steps:
1. Cut 2 rectangles of cotton or linen fabric - 18-1/2" x 12-1/2" . Cut 2 pieces of fabric (for the gusset) 22" x 4-1/2". Repeat for lining fabric. Sew 2 short ends (4-1/2") of fabric together to form one long piece.
2. Stamp fabric with fabric paint
3. After paint dries, sew piping or fringe around the outside edges of the right side each piece, with the piping or fringe facing in.
4. Starting at the top right of one side of the fabric tote, with right sides together sew the gusset fabric to the front of the tote. Repeat for the other side. (This forms a rectangular "box" with no top.)
5. Cut two 2 pieces of cording 18" each for the handles. Tack the ends of the handles to the top edge of the tote, with the handles facing down.
6. Slip the tote into the lining, keeping the lining right sides together. Sew the tote to the linging around the top edges, leaving a 2" opening. Turn the purse inside out and slipstitch the opening to finish.
