Rose Box Mobile

Materials:
Scraps of red acetate/rayon velvet
Fusible interfacing - heavy weight
24" of 1/4" black ribbon
Small metal paint can - available at hardware or paint stores
Adhesive for applying velvet to can (fabric glue or double stick tape.)
White card stock
An iron - preferably with steam holes ONLY around the edges
A spray mister bottle with water
Scissors
Hot Potatoes Rubber Stamp - J250 Outline Rose

1. Emboss and adhere fusible interfacing to velvet roses. This can be done in one step. Preheat your iron to the cotton setting. Very lightly mist the wrong side of the velvet. Lay the rubber stamp on a flat surface with the rubber side facing up. Lay the velvet wrong side facing up, on top of the rubber image. Lay the interfacing, adhesive side down, on the back of the velvet and then press with the iron. (The interfacing adds body and keeps the roses from fraying.) Hold for about 20 seconds, and until the velvet is completely dry. Cut out  the roses.

2. Attach roses to outside of can and can lid with glue or doublestick tape.

3. Cut card stock in the shape of the roses to use as backing for the ones used on the ribbon. Cut 6 card stock rectangles 2" x 1/2" (for 3 fronts and backs). Cut a card stock circle to fit inside the lid of the can.

4. Punch a hole in the center of the card stock circle and run one end of the ribbon through it. Tape or glue it to the card. Then tape or glue the entire card circle to the inside of the lid so that the ribbon hangs out. Attach the velvet roses and card stock rectangles to the ribbon by sandwiching the ribbon between the front and back pieces, and gluing the pieces together.

5. Write a message on the card rectangles, close up the can and give it to someone special!

LOVE Box Mobile
Materials:

24" of ribbon or string
Small square jewelry box
Black card stock
White card stock
Red paper to cover box top
Red and purple stamp pads
Scissors
Paper glue
Hot Potatoes Rubber Stamps - J250 Outline Rose, B156 Small Heart, Uppercase Alphabet

1. Cut a square of red paper large enough to cover the lid of the jewelry box. Stamp with the Outline Rose stamp and red ink. Apply glue to the back of the paper and cover the lid, wrapping paper around the sides also.

2. Punch small hole in the center of the lid. Thread the string or ribbon from the underside of the box up through the top. Make a loop and tie off with a knot. This will keep the string from coming back through.

3. Cut four 2-1/2" squares of black paper. Cut eight 2" squares of white card stock.

4. Stamp the white squares with the Outline Rose in a random pattern with red ink. Stamp each letter of the word LOVE on the white squares with purple ink. Make 2 sets of these. Stamp white card stock with Small Heart and red ink. Cut out five small hearts.

5. Lay out the squares and the heart on the string to determine the correct placement. Punch a small hole through the hearts and thread the string through. Tie a knot in the string under the heart to keep it from sliding.

6. Attach the squares to the string by sandwiching the string between the white and black squares before gluing them together. Clue second set of LOVE squares to the back of the black squares.
